Technology can be a wonderful thing. It can also be the most troublesome thing on this earth. For me, currently, it’s a wonderful thing.
I’m in the process of looking for beta readers and making sure I get people that are going to be honest with you. I know, it sucks sometimes to have to be so honest, but hey, it happens. It has to happen. How do you think there are such great books in existence? Nobody writes a masterpiece in the first few drafts. Nobody.
One person that I know will be perfectly honest is in Australia. Another lives not too far away from me. Others…well, in other states. Let’s face it. Without technology, I would probably have one beta reader. If that.
I guess the point I’m trying to get across is, beta readers can be from anywhere. It doesn’t matter where you live. You have email. Use it. You have social media. Use it. Use anything that is readily accessible to you. If you want people that are going to be honest with you, you may have to not stick close to where you live. Here’s the best thing: You don’t even have to leave your house!
Make friends online. They can help. I don’t know how you’ve been raised. Heck, I’ve been raised to not talk to people online I’ve never met, but where would I be without the friends I’ve made? Absolutely nowhere. Friends you make online is one of the best things a writer can have. These people can be your beta readers. Make sure they’re honest with you. Now, if you’re ready, go and find them. Ready, set, go.
