It Happened to Them…Why Not Me?

I apologize for not getting a post up at all last week. I was sick on Monday, and I just didn’t have a chance on Wednesday.

I’ve been wanting to do this post for a while now. It came to my mind one night, and it wouldn’t let go. I’m so thankful for the chance to finally do it.

As you can probably guess, a lot of authors don’t make it big. So many people think that all authors make it big and that it would be so easy, because of people like JK Rowling, George RR Martin, E.L. James, Stephanie Meyer, Agatha Christie, and so many others. What they don’t know, is that it also takes a lot of money to even get a decent book out. Some books don’t even do well.

I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately. It is possible that I can completely fail as an author, but then it’s also possible that I can hit it big. There’s quite a few people out there that have made it big as authors, why shouldn’t I be able to do it?

There’s one very important fact that I want you to realize: I’m not saying it will happen. I’m saying that it’s possible.

I know it probably seems vain to talk about this like I am, but all I’m saying is that it can happen. I know I certainly wouldn’t complain about making a lot of money. I mean, who would?

I’m not saying it will happen. I’m saying that it’s possible.

Well, I guess I’ll have to find out how I’ll actually do when it comes time to actually publish. I’m both looking forward and absolutely terrified to find out.

The Road to Being Published

I apologize for not getting a post up on Monday. I had a History exam that I was studying for and then completely wiped out after. Yay for summer classes.

It’s Wednesday, so it’s time for another update in how far along I am in getting published.

I’m so proud of how far I’ve come this week! I may not have gotten as far as I wanted to, but I’m hoping I can do even more this week.

Days of the Kill is still on hold, unfortunately. I get paid tomorrow… I’ll finally be halfway to my goal! Maybe just a couple more months, and I’ll be able to afford that editor that I really want…

I haven’t done anything with The Path to Biological, even though I’ve been meaning to. I’m planning on starting that up again today. As long as I can get back into the groove after my orthodontist appointment…joy.

The Child of Fault is still on hold, but again, I’m planning on starting that up again today. I haven’t looked at it in a month. I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do with that. I will be starting on the second draft. So exciting to think about!

Bethany’s Corpse is going so well! I have just over 27,000 words down. I haven’t really done much with it these past few days, but I will be doing more very soon. Today, possibly. As long as I have time after the other two. I may just make time… Anyway, yeah, I’m really excited about how fast this first draft is going.

I’ve done quite a bit this week, though it is mostly with the first draft of Bethany’s Corpse. Here’s to hoping I have even more to report next week!

The Road to Being Published

It’s Wednesday again, so it’s time for another update.

I’m so proud of how far I’ve gotten this week! Hard to believe I was going to take June off of writing new material… That certainly changed.

Days of the Kill is still on hold…yet again. Joy. Still looking for money. I’m almost halfway, though. My next paycheck will take me to be just over halfway, so I can certainly look forward to that.

I completely the third draft to The Path to Biological, which I may have said last week. I can’t remember. But I have one major rewrite to go before I start the beta reader hunt, which is really exciting. I will start working on that tomorrow, or…something like that.

The Child of Fault is still on hold. I took a month off when I finished the first draft. That month is almost up. I should start working on it again before posting next week.

Bethany’s Corpse is going so well! I have just over 24,000 words. I can’t believe how far I’ve come on it. It’s really amazing to think about how far it can go. I guess it also helps that I went on a writing sprint of 5,000 words on Saturday.

Well, I guess that’s about all the progress for this week. Hopefully I have even more progress to announce next week! Until then…stay tuned!

Knowing When To Let Go

If you’ve been following me for a while, you may remember that I used to talk about starting up a podcast, and the frustrations I was having with that. Well, you might have figured that I dropped that idea since I haven’t talked about it in a while.

I’ve still been thinking about it some, but not as much as I was. I asked a guy that I’ve gotten to know on Twitter, but he never really committed one way or the other, so I decided he was my last resort and so I decided to drop the idea once and for all. For now, at least.

Then, for a while, I had a vlog. It was very successful, mind you. It was also one more thing to do when it really came down to it. I started out really excited about doing it, but then it became more of a nuisance than anything. So, since I was getting more negative feedback on it than anything, and I wasn’t really enjoying them, I decided to take that down, as well.

Sometimes, we all have to take a step back and wonder if what we’re doing is really worth it. I myself have wondered on multiple occasions if what I’m doing is worth it.

I’ve come to the conclusion that some things are more than worth it while other things aren’t worth it at all. It’s just a matter of what’s really important to you.

Follow your dreams. That’s the most important thing you can ever do.

The Road to Being Published

It’s Wednesday, so it’s time for another update.

I’m really proud of what all I’ve accomplished this week. I’ve come quite a ways. It’s certainly a lot more than I thought I would get done!

Days of the Kill is still on hold, unfortunately. I’m still saving up enough money. I seem to be going backwards, and not forwards. Talk about annoying. At least I get paid this week.

The Path to Biological is going well. I finally finished the third draft! I need to take a week off from it… Then, it’s one more major rewrite to go before beta reader hunting. My publicist said that she can find beta readers for me. Have I mentioned how much I love her?

The Child of Fault is still on hold, seeing as I’m taking a month off from it. I’ll be returning to it as soon as the month is over. I’m not really looking forward to the major rewrites, though…yikes.

Bethany’s Corpse is going so well! I’m actually really pleased with how it’s going. It’s probably going to need a major rewrite, but hey, don’t all first drafts? I have just over 15,000 words done. I’m so happy at how far I’ve come in just a short amount of time.

I guess that’s it for this week. Hopefully next week, I’ll have even more to report.

Until then…stay tuned!

I Need Your Help!

What I’m about to ask is a little…unconventional. But, I really need your help right about now.

If you’ve been reading my posts for any length of time, you know that I’ve been saving up money for an editor. Well, I haven’t been doing so well with the whole saving money thing, so I’m coming to you for help.

I recently set up a GoFundMe account, and put the goal at $10,000. I know, editors don’t cost that much, but I’m hoping to raise enough money for future books as well.

I hope you decide to help. I know you can probably guess what I’m going to say on Wednesday about Days of the Kill… “still on hold.” Yeah. I know. It’s hard.

If you could help out, that would be great. Any amount would help, really.

I don’t like asking for money. I really don’t. I feel like a common street beggar by doing this, but I really need help from everyone.

I’m promising a free signed copy to anyone who donates. I know that may not mean much since I’m not yet published and nobody has read my books, but why not try out a new author and not have to pay anything? 🙂

If you want to help me out, go here:

Thank you in advance!
