The Road to Being Published

I know I’ve been slacking on the posting lately. I’m trying to get back to it regularly. I promise!

It’s Wednesday, so we’re looking at how far I am on getting my next book out.

I’m so proud of how far I’ve come. You might be surprised!

The Path to Biological is still with the beta reader. I plan on getting in touch with her, because it’s been a little over a month. I told her no rush, but I do want to get back to it eventually. I have major rewrites to do!

The Child of Fault is now with beta readers. I know, the last time I posted I was still on the third draft. I’ve done four, and it’s with them. Isn’t that amazing? I’ve gotten so much more done with it!

Bethany’s Corpse is going well. I’ve edited ten chapters in the third draft. Yay! At this rate, I should be getting done with the third and fourth draft in just a few weeks. I can always hope for that, anyway!

Do You Remember Me is still on hold. I hope to be getting back to it in just a couple weeks. I’m looking forward to it. I actually miss working on this manuscript!

Living Through Abuse is still on hold as well. I’ll get back to it as soon as I possibly can… Hopefully it’ll be soon. I may just have to skip over some things and get back to it sooner!

I didn’t have a lot to report this week, but it was enough. I’m just proud of how far I’ve gotten in just a short amount of time. That’s about all for this week. Here’s to hoping I have even more to post next week! Until then…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

It’s Wednesday, so it’s time to look at where I am in my journey of being published. Man, I’ve missed this.

Days of the Kill is still with the editor. I don’t know exactly how much longer it will be, but I know she’s getting close to done. I’m trying to not ask her too many times how much longer. I don’t want to be known as “that” client! I know it’s close, though. So close, I can almost feel it. I guess I should go ahead and type out the acknowledgements the first chance I get so that’s ready to go.

The Path to Biological is going slowly. I just started working on revising from beta readers. Man, it’s going to take a major overhaul. I never knew just how hard changing a book from first person to third person would actually be! It has to be done, though. Oh, well.

The Child of Fault is okay, I guess, though on hold currently. I finished the second draft, so that’s good. It still has a long way to go before the beta readers see it, but I have no doubt that I can get it there, whenever that may be.

Bethany’s Corpse is on hold as well currently. I finished the second draft not too long ago, though! There’s still a lot wrong with it, and I’m certain I have certain things mixed up in the story, but I’m working on it. I have no doubt that I’ll get there.

I’m so excited about the way things are going. One of these days I’m going to tell you I’m published. I’m getting there, I tell you!

I guess that’s it for this week. Until next week…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

It’s Wednesday, so it’s time again to look at my progress with being published. I always look forward to these. 🙂

I’ve gotten quite a bit done this week! I’m so excited about my progress, and quite proud of how far I’ve come.

Days of the Kill won’t be on hold for much longer. I know, I keep saying that, but it’s so true. The editor is supposed to get with me today or tomorrow and say that she’s ready for the manuscript. Here’s to hoping that it doesn’t take too much more editing!

The Path to Biological is officially off with the beta readers. I’m so excited. The waiting game begins with them. I’m so looking forward to getting back opinions. I just sent it out a few days ago, but it seems like forever ago!

The Child of Fault is officially in progress. I’m on the second draft. I’m having to change quite a bit, but I guess that’s why it’s called a draft. It’s so tedious. But I am so glad that it’s going somewhat smoothly.

Bethany’s Corpse is still on hold. It probably will be for a little while longer. I don’t know how long exactly, but I will get to it eventually. I promise.

I’ve made so much progress this week! I hope to have even more to report next week. Until then…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

It’s Wednesday, so time to take a look at how far I’m getting on being published.

I’ve done so much these past two weeks! Well, at least for one day. As for the other days, I can’t say too much.

Days of the Kill is still on hold due to money issues, but I’m thinking about going for a different editor. One I can actually kind of afford this time. I would have had to save up money for them, but I have to say that I do have the money for them now, so if I like the free sample, I’m definitely going for them.

The Path to Biological is going well. I edited 32 pages just the other day. It felt like I was running a marathon or something for two hours… Still, it was rewarding, and that means I’m just that much closer to beta reader hunting.

The Child of Fault is going slowly. I’m working on it some, but I haven’t put a lot of effort into it. I’m on the second draft, so there’s a lot to be done. Hopefully the next few drafts will be just a tiny bit faster.

Bethany’s Corpse is on hold still. I haven’t quite gone a month without looking at it, so I’m going to use that month up for all it’s worth. Hopefully I don’t go totally crazy from all the horrible mistakes in it!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you may know that I’ve been wanting to self-publish for a while. Well, today on my Facebook author page, there was the owner of an indie publishing company that contacted me and said that we could discuss options. This would be great for me, and I’m so happy that she messaged me. I don’t know if I will go for her publishing company or not, but I can say that I will definitely be giving her a call. I will be able to tell you more about that next week!

Until then…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

Another Wednesday, another time to look at how far I’ve come.

I’m really excited with how well this week has gone. I got Days of the Kill back from the editor (yay!), and I finished looking through what she did with it. I have to say, she’s amazing. She did a great job with it. Now, she just wants me to get one more editor… I think I know just the one, too. I just have to get my bank account prepared…yikes!

The Path to Biological is going slowly. I’m still working on the third draft, though I do plan to be able to work on it for about an hour on Saturday, at the very latest. Maybe today, too! Maybe. I hope. I’ll get to the fourth draft eventually. After draft four comes beta readers. That won’t be for a little while, at least.

I’ve got to say, The Child of Fault has come along really well. I’m getting closer and closer to the end of it! I have almost 35,000 words written on it. I’m so excited! I’m definitely looking forward to getting the first draft done. I can already tell it needs A LOT of work. But, I suppose that’s what first drafts are for, right? 🙂

I’m so excited about how this week has gone. I’m looking forward to what next week brings!

I guess that’s it for this week. Next week is another update. Until then… Stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

Another Wednesday, another update. I love these!

I’m really excited about how the week has gone. I hit a major milestone. Or at least, I think it’s a milestone. Maybe not for more experienced authors, but for me, it is. Yay. 🙂

Days of the Kill is going really well! It’s still with the editor, but I got a snippet back the other day, and I’m so excited about that! The manuscript is already sounding so much better than it was. She figured out a ton of sentences that were bothering me. I’m so happy about that.

The Path to Biological is going a little slowly, but it’s going along. I’m hoping I’ll be able to pick it up more on Saturday, but my four-year-old niece will be visiting, so…we’ll see. It’s on the third draft, though, so hopefully I’ll see a lot of improvement! It’s a major rewrite draft, though, so I’ll still probably have to write a fourth draft before beta readers are brought into the picture.

The Child of Fault is going slowly again, though I do have just under 25,000 words down. I did almost 5,000 words this week! That’s not a lot, but hey, I’m glad I was able to get that much done. A lot of time I don’t. We’ll see how far I can get by next week.

I guess that’s about all this week. I’m looking forward to seeing how far I get next week. By next week, I should be working more on Days of the Kill! Until then…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

Another Wednesday, another day to look at how far along I’ve come.

I have to say, I’m really excited with how I’ve done this week. Maybe it’s because I reached a couple major milestones. Well, it’s major for me, anyway. I know it’s part of the normal writing process, but I’m not even published yet. Let me live in my fantasy world.

I’m so excited about Days of the Kill! I have a deadline to get that to the editor TODAY. Well, a self-imposed deadline, but still a deadline. I’m so excited about that! I may have procrastinated a little, but I love that I’m getting really close. I have a couple more hours worth of work before I can send it off! I’m so excited. If only my bank account was as excited as I was. Sigh.

The Path to Biological is going along really well. I just finished editing the second draft last night! I can’t believe it. I have a long way to go still, but that’s what other drafts are for. I’m not worried. My beta readers and editor will get what I missed for me. Even though I have a long way to go before I get there.

The Child of Fault is going along really slowly. It seems like I can never get a solid hour to work on it. It’s frustrating. I have just over 13,000 words. The good news is, since I’m taking a week off from The Path to Biological, and Days of the Kill is about to be with the editor for a couple weeks, The Child of Fault will be the only manuscript I’m working on for a few days. I’m so excited!

I can’t wait to see how far I can go. I have to say, I’m really glad I have a publicist, because marketing is my weakness. She’s already trying to find reviewers for my book! Not to mention she set me up with my editor. That’s awesome.

Finally, I would like to say that my vlog should be returning this week! And hopefully, it will be going for a while. Though I have to say I don’t know about next week. Ugh, I started it at the worst time. I have fun doing it, though.

Well, I guess that’s about it for this week. Next week, Days of the Kill should be with the editor. Until then…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

Another Wednesday, another update to see how far I’ve come. Oh, joy.

No, really, I like doing this. It’s just been a long day, you know? Anyway, enough about that. Time to talk writing. Whoo-hoo!

Okay, so I got beta reader feedback from, well, the beta readers. Well, only two gave me feedback, and one was a while back. I looked over it, though, and yay! It’s actually helpful. Both of them are. Now, I just need to get back at them for every single bad thing they said. Wait, what? I totally meant that I need to take their suggestions seriously and edit Days of the Kill. Yeah, that’s totally what I mean. No evil planning here. Nope. None.

In all seriousness, I’ve edited the first chapter of Days of the Kill based on their feedback. Actually, it helped. The first chapter is a lot better, and the hate at the beginning isn’t anywhere near as strong. I like that. It was way too strong before.

The Path to Biological is coming along well. I’m on page… 60 or 70-something. I’ve actually come a long way. It’s better than I thought it would be. Maybe it was that hour I took one night… Then I got sleepy and couldn’t work the other hour on The Child of Fault. I went to bed instead.

The Child of Fault is coming along extremely slowly. I just…ugh. I always run out of time. I have almost 13,000 words. I was hoping to be at 20,000 a long time ago. Maybe I’ll be able to play catch up on Saturday. I hope to be able to dedicate all of Saturday to writing. At least every other Saturday, because, you know, I started hanging around this guy and plan to the other Saturdays… It’s not a date, so get that out of your heads right now.

Wait, what were we talking about again? Oh, yeah, writing.

I’m excited to announce that I now have a publicist! That’s right, I was noticed by a publicist. She came to my Facebook page and contacted me. And she rocks. Seriously.

She set me up with an editor. How cool is that? I actually have an editor now. Okay, so I know it’s normal to have an editor, but this is a first for me. So allow me to believe that it’s amazing.

Well, I guess that’s all for this week. I know I rambled on a lot. Sorry about that, guys! Next Wednesday will be another update. Until then…stay tuned!

Beta Reader Day

Today’s the day. The day I’ve been dreading. The day I’ve been looking forward to. The day…wait, where was I going with this?

Oh, yes, today is the day that I’m supposed to get feedback from the beta readers. Key words: Supposed to. I’ve only heard from the two currently, so I have no idea how far along I’m going to be able to get with that. They’ve both said the beginning is a little heavy, so I’ll be fixing that. I also feel like I can work that out. I’ll give everyone a week before I totally freak out. Because if I have to, I will freak out and demand feedback. I’m surprised one beta reader in particular hasn’t gotten back to me…

I love my beta readers to death, but I can’t revise if I don’t have feedback. I mean, really. What’s up with that? Well, I guess I could always go off the feedback I have already and then revise the rest myself.  I suppose I could do that if I needed to before sending it off to the editor. We’ll see.

I know, I’m not going to get feedback from every single beta reader. Nobody does. Still, I did expect more than two. I guess that’s what I get for only getting eight beta readers. Oh, well.

In other news, I hired a publicist today. Or yesterday. Or really, she hired herself. I don’t really know. Point is, I have one. Because she came across my Facebook author page and messaged me. I’m so excited!

Well, I guess that’s all I really have for today. You guys, I’m really excited about how far this could go. As long as those gosh darn beta readers get back to me, the possibilities are endless!

That’s all for today. Wednesday will be another update. Until then…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

Once again, I’m sorry for not getting a post up on Monday. My four-year-old niece was visiting and things were a little…chaotic, let’s say.

i have to say, I’m pretty disappointed with the way things have been this week. It was just a bad week for writing in general. Especially since I didn’t have my laptop for part of it. Yesterday was the first time I had written in eleven days. Far too long!

Days of the Kill comes back from the beta readers on Monday. I can’t wait to get it back. I’m nervous, yet really excited about the feedback I’m going to get. I still haven’t heard from anyone else about what they think. They have five days… The clock is ticking, beta readers.

Editing The Path to Biological is slow-going. I’m on page 135 for editing. You would think that’s pretty far along, but when I’m going backwards trying to make sure the plot is the same, well…it’s not really all that far. 40-something pages in. I’m pretty sure.

The Child of Fault is slow-going as well. At least a little. I’m just over 11,000 words in. I was hoping to get to 20,000 by today… Try again this week. I did manage to get two chapters written.

I’m excited to announce that vlogging returns this week! I’ve fallen in love with it, and I’m so excited to get to it. The link to my YouTube channel is on my contact page, so feel free to subscribe to it! (I won’t ask every week. I promise.).

As lacking as it is, that’s it for this week. Hopefully I’ll have more to report next week. Until then…stay tuned!
