The Road to Being Published

Another Wednesday, another update. I’ll try to keep it short. I haven’t done that much this week.

This week has been…chaotic, to say the least. I was out of town for a couple days celebrating my niece’s birthday. It was fun. Still…I didn’t bring my laptop, so no writing.

Days of the Kill is still on hold, at least a little. I am offering a free preview for anyone who asks (email me at if interested). As long as you’re aware that it’s not the final draft and the formatting is a little sloppy (I’m working on it), we’ll be okay.

The Path to Biological is still going slowly. Seems like I haven’t had time to work on it much (it’s my pet peeve when people say that. Still, when I’m swamped with homework and my parents insist that I can only write uninterrupted after I have my first book out…um, what?). I’ll try to work on it more after I get to a point that I can. I hope that will be soon. It’s driving me crazy not being able to work on it!

The Child of Fault has been put on hold for a few days. I couldn’t motivate myself to write, and as it turns out, I’m horrible with deadlines. Putting The Child of Fault on a deadline was a horrible idea. So, that deadline is no longer existent. I’m not even looking at the thing until May.

Alright, well I guess that’s about it for this week. Until next week…stay tuned!

Meeting Deadlines

I haven’t really talked all that much about meeting deadlines. Today, I would like to change that.

I have a major deadline coming up. Well, a self-imposed major deadline. I need to be sending my manuscript to the editor by Wednesday, March 4. Can you believe it’s almost time to send my book to the editor? I can’t. I still remember when I was just starting the first draft…

I won’t say I remember it like it was yesterday. It was definitely not yesterday. But, I do remember it very clearly. I started writing it in May. It does not seem like that long.

Anyway, back to deadlines. It’s hard to meet the deadlines sometimes. I can’t believe I have actually made myself a deadline to get my book edited by a professional.

There is one problem to meeting this deadline. Distractions. Those gosh darn distractions seem to get the better of me a lot. I try not to get distracted, but well, it happens. I really must start turning off social media so I can’t get on for a while. That’s the biggest problem (then again, I also just got distracted trying to figure that out. Hmm…).

Distractions. They’re a huge problem. I’m telling you. It’s taking me forever to write this post because my mind is everywhere else. Ugh.

Okay, I really just need to turn my phone off. That’s being a big distraction right now.

I’m telling you, distractions are all over the place. It’s so hard to meet deadlines because of it. But, if you can meet your deadline, you’re that much stronger because of it.

So, are you ready to turn everything off? Get to it, then! Go get your work done.
