The Road to Being Published

Hey all, sorry for not getting a post up on Monday. Somehow that fact that it was Monday escaped me…

For now, it’s Wednesday, so it’s time to look at how far I am with being published.

I haven’t really done a lot this week. Handwriting a draft tends to slow everything down.

Days of the Kill is still with the editor. I don’t know how much longer she’ll have it, but I plan on asking her here in the next couple days if I hadn’t heard from her by then. My guess is by the first of November (wow, it’s almost November. Can you guys believe it? Where has 2015 gone?).

The Path to Biological is going slowly. I’m handwriting the current draft, but I know it will go a lot faster once I get past the handwriting part. Currently I have 126 pages to go… Quite a lot when you think about handwriting all of that!

The Child of Fault is on hold currently. It’s not a priority to me at the moment. It will be, though. I finished the second draft not too long ago and so I can afford to take a little break from it.

Bethany’s Corpse is also currently on hold. I finished the second draft of that not too long ago as well, so I’m taking a small break from it. It’s time to focus on other things.

Next week, I will be adding another book to this. Starting NaNoWriMo is just right around the corner! See you guys next week!

The Road to Being Published

It’s Wednesday, so it’s time to look at where I am in my journey of being published. Man, I’ve missed this.

Days of the Kill is still with the editor. I don’t know exactly how much longer it will be, but I know she’s getting close to done. I’m trying to not ask her too many times how much longer. I don’t want to be known as “that” client! I know it’s close, though. So close, I can almost feel it. I guess I should go ahead and type out the acknowledgements the first chance I get so that’s ready to go.

The Path to Biological is going slowly. I just started working on revising from beta readers. Man, it’s going to take a major overhaul. I never knew just how hard changing a book from first person to third person would actually be! It has to be done, though. Oh, well.

The Child of Fault is okay, I guess, though on hold currently. I finished the second draft, so that’s good. It still has a long way to go before the beta readers see it, but I have no doubt that I can get it there, whenever that may be.

Bethany’s Corpse is on hold as well currently. I finished the second draft not too long ago, though! There’s still a lot wrong with it, and I’m certain I have certain things mixed up in the story, but I’m working on it. I have no doubt that I’ll get there.

I’m so excited about the way things are going. One of these days I’m going to tell you I’m published. I’m getting there, I tell you!

I guess that’s it for this week. Until next week…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

It’s Wednesday, so it’s time again to look at my progress with being published. I always look forward to these. 🙂

I’ve gotten quite a bit done this week! I’m so excited about my progress, and quite proud of how far I’ve come.

Days of the Kill won’t be on hold for much longer. I know, I keep saying that, but it’s so true. The editor is supposed to get with me today or tomorrow and say that she’s ready for the manuscript. Here’s to hoping that it doesn’t take too much more editing!

The Path to Biological is officially off with the beta readers. I’m so excited. The waiting game begins with them. I’m so looking forward to getting back opinions. I just sent it out a few days ago, but it seems like forever ago!

The Child of Fault is officially in progress. I’m on the second draft. I’m having to change quite a bit, but I guess that’s why it’s called a draft. It’s so tedious. But I am so glad that it’s going somewhat smoothly.

Bethany’s Corpse is still on hold. It probably will be for a little while longer. I don’t know how long exactly, but I will get to it eventually. I promise.

I’ve made so much progress this week! I hope to have even more to report next week. Until then…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

It’s Wednesday again, so it’s time to look at how far along I’ve come in my journey to being published. I love these so much. 🙂

I have exciting news this week! I have done so much. Well, more than usual, anyway.

Days of the Kill is still on hold, but not for much longer! I have an editor I can afford (thanks to the publisher that recommended her to me!), and I should be sending my manuscript off to her by the end of this week or the beginning of next week. I’m not really sure which one, but from the sounds of our conversation last week, it should be soon. I’m so excited. Month after month of saving up money is finally over.

The Path to Biological is coming along really well. I edited almost 100 pages in just two days. Can you believe that? I can’t. I haven’t had time to do that…well, ever, I don’t think. Just a few more days, and I should be hunting for beta readers. This is such an exciting time.

The Child of Fault is going slowly. I admit, I haven’t done anything with that since I’ve been on vacation. I’m still in the middle of the second draft. Oh, well. I’ll deal with that once I get my focus off of other things.

Bethany’s Corpse is still on hold as well. I lost track of how long ago I finished the first draft… I’ll get to it when I get to it, I suppose. I haven’t quite decided I know when that’s going to be. At least I know I’ll be looking at it with really fresh eyes.

I mentioned this last week, but I actually have a real shot of being published by the end of the year, or at the beginning of next year. When I got hung up on saving money, I really thought it wasn’t going to be any time soon. But it finally is, and things are finally going my way. I talked to a publisher last week that really wants to take me on, and I couldn’t be more excited!

I’ve done so much this week, and I hope to have even more to report next week. Until then…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

It’s Wednesday, so time to take a look at how far I’m getting on being published.

I’ve done so much these past two weeks! Well, at least for one day. As for the other days, I can’t say too much.

Days of the Kill is still on hold due to money issues, but I’m thinking about going for a different editor. One I can actually kind of afford this time. I would have had to save up money for them, but I have to say that I do have the money for them now, so if I like the free sample, I’m definitely going for them.

The Path to Biological is going well. I edited 32 pages just the other day. It felt like I was running a marathon or something for two hours… Still, it was rewarding, and that means I’m just that much closer to beta reader hunting.

The Child of Fault is going slowly. I’m working on it some, but I haven’t put a lot of effort into it. I’m on the second draft, so there’s a lot to be done. Hopefully the next few drafts will be just a tiny bit faster.

Bethany’s Corpse is on hold still. I haven’t quite gone a month without looking at it, so I’m going to use that month up for all it’s worth. Hopefully I don’t go totally crazy from all the horrible mistakes in it!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you may know that I’ve been wanting to self-publish for a while. Well, today on my Facebook author page, there was the owner of an indie publishing company that contacted me and said that we could discuss options. This would be great for me, and I’m so happy that she messaged me. I don’t know if I will go for her publishing company or not, but I can say that I will definitely be giving her a call. I will be able to tell you more about that next week!

Until then…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

After more than a month, this series is finally returning. How sad is it that I had to look at the name of another post to make sure I had it right? I love these. 🙂

Days of the Kill is unfortunately still on hold. I’ve been looking at it more, though, so maybe the editor won’t have quite as much to rip apart… Oh, and I’m only about $400 away from my goal. Two more paychecks it is. 🙂

The Path to Biological is going fairly well. I’m still on the third draft. Editing has slowed down quite a bit, but maybe I’ll be picking it up again soon. I hope so, anyway!

The Child of Fault is slow-going. I’m on the second draft. There’s a lot of things happening in that book, and…wow. I have a lot to work on in that book. Of course, I have a lot to work on with any first draft I create.

Bethany’s Corpse is going really well. I have finally finished the first draft! So proud of myself. Now, I need to take a month off of that and really focus on other things. I’ve been so focused on getting this one done I haven’t left time for anything else!

I’m so happy with how much I’ve done in the time that we’ve been apart, but really I missed this series. I’m so glad to be getting back to it.

Well, I guess that’s it for this week. Until next week…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

I apologize for not getting a post up on Monday. I had a History exam that I was studying for and then completely wiped out after. Yay for summer classes.

It’s Wednesday, so it’s time for another update in how far along I am in getting published.

I’m so proud of how far I’ve come this week! I may not have gotten as far as I wanted to, but I’m hoping I can do even more this week.

Days of the Kill is still on hold, unfortunately. I get paid tomorrow… I’ll finally be halfway to my goal! Maybe just a couple more months, and I’ll be able to afford that editor that I really want…

I haven’t done anything with The Path to Biological, even though I’ve been meaning to. I’m planning on starting that up again today. As long as I can get back into the groove after my orthodontist appointment…joy.

The Child of Fault is still on hold, but again, I’m planning on starting that up again today. I haven’t looked at it in a month. I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do with that. I will be starting on the second draft. So exciting to think about!

Bethany’s Corpse is going so well! I have just over 27,000 words down. I haven’t really done much with it these past few days, but I will be doing more very soon. Today, possibly. As long as I have time after the other two. I may just make time… Anyway, yeah, I’m really excited about how fast this first draft is going.

I’ve done quite a bit this week, though it is mostly with the first draft of Bethany’s Corpse. Here’s to hoping I have even more to report next week!

The Road to Being Published

Another Wednesday, another day to look at how far along I’ve come.

I have to say, I’m really excited with how I’ve done this week. Maybe it’s because I reached a couple major milestones. Well, it’s major for me, anyway. I know it’s part of the normal writing process, but I’m not even published yet. Let me live in my fantasy world.

I’m so excited about Days of the Kill! I have a deadline to get that to the editor TODAY. Well, a self-imposed deadline, but still a deadline. I’m so excited about that! I may have procrastinated a little, but I love that I’m getting really close. I have a couple more hours worth of work before I can send it off! I’m so excited. If only my bank account was as excited as I was. Sigh.

The Path to Biological is going along really well. I just finished editing the second draft last night! I can’t believe it. I have a long way to go still, but that’s what other drafts are for. I’m not worried. My beta readers and editor will get what I missed for me. Even though I have a long way to go before I get there.

The Child of Fault is going along really slowly. It seems like I can never get a solid hour to work on it. It’s frustrating. I have just over 13,000 words. The good news is, since I’m taking a week off from The Path to Biological, and Days of the Kill is about to be with the editor for a couple weeks, The Child of Fault will be the only manuscript I’m working on for a few days. I’m so excited!

I can’t wait to see how far I can go. I have to say, I’m really glad I have a publicist, because marketing is my weakness. She’s already trying to find reviewers for my book! Not to mention she set me up with my editor. That’s awesome.

Finally, I would like to say that my vlog should be returning this week! And hopefully, it will be going for a while. Though I have to say I don’t know about next week. Ugh, I started it at the worst time. I have fun doing it, though.

Well, I guess that’s about it for this week. Next week, Days of the Kill should be with the editor. Until then…stay tuned!

The Road to Being Published

Another Wednesday, another update. I’ve gotten to where I love these.

Days of the Kill is still with the beta readers. I haven’t gotten any feedback yet, so I’m still waiting on them. Hopefully, I’ll actually get some. Sometimes, I wonder… Oh, well, we’ll see where I’m at toward the end of February. That’s when I’m wanting it back by.

I just started really working on editing The Path to Biological. I’m ashamed to say I haven’t done much, but there were a few days when  I’ve felt extremely blah and didn’t feel like doing anything. You know how it is… We’ve all had those days. Don’t deny it. I’ve done the last couple of chapters, though. I’m working backwards since the plot changed so much. Two chapters down…several more to go.

The Child of Fault is coming along fairly well. I haven’t checked the word count the past couple times, but the last time I checked it was just over 5,000 words. Who knew I could come so far with just the little bit of time I use to write the first draft? The first draft is the easy part… I don’t even want to think about what the editing is going to look like yet. Oh, jeez.

Finally, I’m excited to announce that I am starting a vlog! I plan to do the first episode this afternoon. I’m so excited for you guys to actually see me and what I’m actually doing. you’ve all seen it written down, but I think it’s time you can actually hear it, too. I’m excited, and it will definitely expand my audience. I hope you guys are as excited about this as I am!

Last thing: This has become more of a writing blog than I originally intended. Most of my posts will still be about writing, but once in a while, it will be about other things. It may not just be on Monday and Wednesday, either sometimes. I definitely want to let you guys in on my personal life as well!

The Road to Being Published

Yet another Wednesday, so time for another update.

I’m so excited about how far I’ve come on Days of the Kill. I have my third chapter almost done with editing for the second draft. I’m pretty sure I can finish it tonight. I’ll have more time since my parents will be gone a little longer.

It sounds weird that my parents being gone is my reasoning for having longer to edit, but I do most of my editing Wednesday nights when they’re gone. I try to edit most days, but Monday and Wednesday I can’t stay up late since I have work the next morning. So, the only time I can get editing done on Wednesday is when my parents are gone that night.

I only do it at night because I have homework to do during the day. Let me tell you, balancing college and writing is not easy. It’s so worth it, though. I love it.

When I was in second grade, I got the award for Best Story Teller. That’s when I got the idea to be a writer. Typical, right? I started long ago, just like a lot of writers do.

I can’t believe how far I’ve come. My first novel completely flopped, so this is the first time I’ve ever gone through the editing process. It’s so exciting to think that I’m going to be published one day. I know I can get there. I just have to keep believing in myself.

I know I can finish the third chapter tonight on Days of the Kill. I just know I can. I don’t think it will take that long, either. I’m also working on The Healing for my NaNoWriMo project still. I’m almost halfway done with that! Tune in Monday for more details…

Thank you all so much for your continued support. It means so much to me that you always support me in my writing career. See you guys next Wednesday for another update, and make sure to check out my journey as a first-time NaNoWriMo participant on Monday.
