I know, I know, I said I would get back to Wednesday posting. I also said unless something earth-shattering happens. Believe it or not, something earth-shattering did happen. The little girl that I take care of that I have mentioned many times before went to the hospital. I couldn’t write and be happy after that. I just couldn’t.
I can’t give many details as to why she was in the hospital, but I can say that she was released Friday afternoon and it’s back to work for me on Tuesday. I have never been so happy to hear those words in my life.
Hopefully, I will be getting back to writing a Road to Being Published on Wednesday. I hope it really happens this time. I don’t like promising things and then missing it… That gets old. Really fast.
I can tell you that I’m on the fourth draft now of Days of the Kill. It’s about time I got there, too. I hated moving so slow on the third draft. I got tired of being on the same draft for over a month. Gosh darn computer problems!
Well, I will hopefully get back to that on Wednesday. I’ve missed doing that. Wednesday has turned into my favorite time of the week because I get to update you on how close I am to getting published. I’m ready. I’m willing. I can do it.
Until Wednesday…stay tuned!
I apologize for being gone for so long. I had a cold, then my dog destroyed my laptop, then the holidays came up… You get the picture. Life got in the way. Gosh darn that life, right? It feels good to be back.
I wanted to keep you updated. I said I would keep posting on Mondays even though NaNoWriMo is long over, and now, finally, I can. It’s been more than a month. How insane is that?
I’ve basically been doing the same old, same old, with work, school, and everything. The holidays were nice, though. I only had to work one day a week for two weeks. It was a nice break from Barney. Who wouldn’t enjoy that? I know I do. I’ve been less mentally exhausted lately. But don’t get me wrong. I enjoy what I do.
I’ve been editing a lot lately. Almost obsessively. I’m trying so hard to get the third draft done. After I do that, it’ll be time to hunt for beta readers. I’m honestly looking forward to that. But, more about that on Wednesday on my continuing series.
Well, I guess that’s about it going on in my world. I hope everyone had an amazing holiday season.
If you’re interested in being a beta reader for Days of the Kill, please let me know! I would love to have some of my readers know what they think about my book.
I will definitely be back on Wednesday with The Road to Being Published…as long as nothing earth shattering happens! Until then…stay tuned!
The second Monday of NaNoWriMo is here.
Last week, I was ahead when I posted. Now, I’m just right on track. I hate that. I loved being ahead and not having a lot of pressure. But, my niece was around this weekend and I didn’t have time. I knew that was a possibility.
I know, I’m a big advocate of making time to write. Well, this weekend I was guilty of not. If my niece visits again before the end of the month ( I think she is…), I will have to make time. There is no way I’m not going to succeed in NaNoWriMo.
I love November. I really do. I don’t know why I never thought of participating in NaNoWriMo before. I’m getting such a rush from it! All four of my main characters are driving me insane, but hey, characters are supposed to do that, right?
I have almost 18,000 words for my NaNoWriMo project. Just 15 minutes is making all the difference, it seems. I’m doing a lot of it late at night, but I won’t be able to tonight — not when I have to be up at 5:00 tomorrow morning for work!
I’m not sure what the end project will look like, but I do know it won’t be that great. Quantity over quality is the rule for NaNoWriMo. The editing comes later.
I will be buckling down on editing Days of the Kill after NaNoWriMo is over. I’ve tended to make The Healing a priority this month writing wise. After November is over, I probably will put it away until I send Days of the Kill off to an editor and work in it while I’m waiting for Days of the Kill to come back with edits.
Well, I guess that’s it for Monday. Stay tuned next Monday for another NaNoWriMo update…and be sure to check out The Road to Being Published on Wednesday!
